TIN WHISTLE formed in 2001, after Fonz and Udo left the band NO REGRET. Because they already matched perfectly in this outfit, they only had to find a guitar player, which came in the shape of Dirk. They wrote a lot of songs and turned them down again, not exactly knowing in which direction to develop. There still was a lot of Punkrock-influences in these songs, that sometimes got suppressed, but couldn’t be omitted all the time, this being the music that the members grew up with. Looking for a style, the threesome tried to amplify their creative force with a female singer, but separated again a few weeks later. Since them, they remained a trio, being satisfied with this constellation, with Dirk being able to imitate all kinds of instruments with his equipment, making them sound like a five- or six-piece. Meanwhile, the productivity in songwriting lead to recording a promotional CD. Fonz and Dirk have been playing in the Punkrock-Band THE SHAMROCKS between 1988 and 1992, which released an EP and a LP on Knock Out Records. They played with bands like U.K. SUBS, MIRACLE WORKES, BAD RELIGION and others, getting a lot of live experience. Fonz started playing with Udo in the powerpop combo NO REGRET in 1996. They did gigs everywhere they could, supporting among others DOG EAT DOG with a crowd of 1.000 people. They released a demo CD also. You can safely say, that all three musicians are influenced by bands like STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, THE DAMNED, CLASH, as well as U2, GOOGOODOLLS and similar bands. Since 1998, Udo is playing bass in a second band with 77-punkrock-roots, THE RIGIDS, who are constantly playing in the Heinsberg and Aachen area.
